Houston, TX - Seidl's Bindery, a full-service binding and finishing company, recently installed a new Muller Martini Bolero perfect binder. This highly automated adhesive binding system significantly increases Seidl's ability to quickly turnaround large jobs coming from anywhere in the country. It has Otabind® lay-flat adhesive binding and PUR binding capabilities for creating exceptionally strong and highly user-friendly books.
"This machine has super fast setup, so we can do quick project changeovers. It has program storage that enables us to set up repeating jobs with very little make-ready time. This feature certainly is a competitive advantage for our clients," says Bill Seidl, company president. "And, it's an 8,000 per hour machine."
"This state-of-the-art Bolero has a two-shot glue system that allows us to use a cold primer glue followed by a layer of hot-melt adhesive," says Seidl. "The combination offers maximum strength and flexibility for Otabind books. With the new Bolero, our customers can receive the best of both worlds: excellent binding quality and quicker project turnaround times."
Muller Martini premiered the Model 3028 Bolero perfect binding system in the U.S. at the industry's mega exhibition, Print '05 in Chicago, which ran from September 9 through 15. According to Muller Martini, its new Bolero provides the highest level of automation that the company has yet offered in a perfect binder.
“That machine was developed to cater to multiple-process facilities. Seidl's is a multiple-process facility. That's what made the Bolero so attractive to them,” says Jody Harrison, a product manager for Muller Martini. “Now Seidl’s can move to different types of glue without incurring the downtime they had to deal with before with other machines.”
The addition of the Bolero complements Seidl's Bindery's other recent machine upgrades, which include a Muller Martini Bravo Plus saddle stitching system and a Gateway PlastiKoil® plastic spiral binding machine.

The new Muller Martini Corona-style perfect binder at Seidl’s Bindery will run PUR adhesive exclusively.
| According to Bill Seidl, President of Seidl’s Bindery, the Corona will allow the company to bring the benefits of PUR adhesive binding to a broader range of products.
“At Seidl’s Bindery, we run PUR adhesive exclusively on all of our perfect binding machines,” said Seidl. “The benefits to the customer are tremendous. PUR adhesives create stronger, more flexible spines; they adhere to even heavily-coated stocks; and they resist temperature extremes, which is important in the Southern summer heat. Our customers already know us for outstanding PUR adhesive binding quality. The addition of this binder will allow for faster turnarounds on high-volume projects, and gives us the flexibility to bind a variety of projects.
“We have promised customers continual improvement in our range and quality of service; this installation is one way we have kept that promise.”

High-Speed Ga-Vehren Attaching Equipment will Improve Placement Services at
Houston-based Bindery
Houston, TX – Seidl’s Bindery, a full-service binding and finishing company located here, has
recently installed a high-speed Ga-Vehren attaching and placement machine. This top-of-the-line
machine will boost the company’s existing attaching capabilities, allowing for faster turnaround
times on high-volume projects.
The Ga-Vehren machine allows the placement of a wide variety of items onto a carrier substrate.
Attached items include postcards, coins, CD and DVD discs, coupons, booklets, product inserts,
magnets and more. The carrier piece can then be folded in preparation for mailing or subsequent
finishing operations.
According to Bill Seidl, President of Seidl’s Bindery, the addition of the Ga-Vehren equipment is in response to increased customer interest in attaching services.
“Marketers love the boost in response that an attached item provides,” said Seidl. “Our customers have asked us to give them an increased array of attaching options, and this installation represents our commitment to them. We aim to be the single source for all of our customers’ bindery needs.”
